Post Study Program

You can apply for a Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) from inside Canada within 180 days after you graduate from a Canadian university. To apply for a PGWP, you need to prove that you have attended and completed your full stduy program. A post-graduation work permit (PGWP) may be valid anywhere between 8 months and up to 3 years. To qualify for Canadian permanent residency (PR), you must have at least one year of skilled work experience on top of your 3 years PGWP.

You can apply for Canadian PR from within Canada with a valid work permit at the time of application. If you apply for a PGWP prior to the expiration of your study visa, you are eligible to begin working full time immediately, while your application is under process.
