About Canada's Quebec Skilled Program
The Government of Quebec and the Canadian Federal Government have jointly developed the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) that enables highly educated and trained foreign nationals to immigrate to Quebec as skilled workers. Prospective immigrants who apply to the Skilled Worker Quebec Program are evaluated according to a selection grid of factors, and applicants who score enough points are given a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) which they can then use to apply for Canadian permanent residency.
To immigrate to Canada as a Quebec-selected skilled worker, you must apply in the following 2 stages;
- Apply to the Government of Quebec for a Quebec Selection Certificate (Certificat de sélection du Québec).
- After receiving your CSQ certificate, apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence
The Province of Quebec will assess your application, using its own rules. The certificate shows that the Province of Quebec has accepted you as an immigrant. To qualify for immigration to Canada as a Quebec-selected skilled worker, a solo applicant must score at least 50 points.
